How You Can Help

Join the Girl Vow team as a volunteer or an employee. Whether you were once in their shoes or you just have a passion for our cause, we are always happy to have mentors join our family. See how a life of advocacy — for those who deserve it most — can redefine the meaning of a life fulfillment.

How We Help

From incarceration to aftercare, we’ll stand alongside them to help transform them into the kind of women who will also put their life to work for others. Our programs include:

  • Putting My Life to Work: Supporting girls through education, mentorship, and life skills training.
  • The Gentle Man: Mentoring and providing services for disadvantaged LGBTQ+ youth who identify as male.

Mentor Experiences

Girl Vow has helped me in many ways, too many that I can think of. It was plenty of times where I needed help with getting a job or enrolling into a good school or even times where I felt like I didn’t wanna finish, and Dawn just pushed me into getting my life back on track. Coming from a juvenile background, I felt like things couldn’t change or get better, but still to this day, whenever I need her she’s there like a second mom to me, and I appreciate every little thing.

Girl Vow has helped me become a person with a positive mind. I just completed my first semester in college. They’ve shown me that anything can be possible, meaning if you put your mind to it, it can happen. I am more articulate. Now I can help people in my shoes.

Girl Vow has given me the opportunity to help others by putting my life to work. Before working for Girl Vow, I was unsure of what my future path was. I was granted the opportunity of having a paid internship at Girl Vos as the Program Coordinator. Now I am able to use my degree and advocate for NYC youth. Girl Vow has allowed me to mentor girls in hopes of changing their original pathway of success. While at Girl Vow, I have gained a greater knowledge on the injustices within the criminal justice system which has made me a fierce advocate for equality.
